Hi, there! I just posted in the "Introduce yourself" topic and mentioned the Fibromyalgia post that I found here. I was going to post there, but since it was in 2006, it seems to be closed. (If you want to catch up, it's here: http://www.spankingden.com/discus/messages/8/11941.html)

I was wondering if we could open it up again for a little while. I'm relatively new to FMS (and Osteoarthritis), and I've been having a hard time getting back into enjoying spanking and other such activities.

I'd love to see if the endorphins would help with the symptoms. I'm not in severe pain all the time - there is just a number of places that mildly-to-moderately hurt all over the place all the time. I tune them out most of the time (meds don't work for me), but when I'm over my Master's knee, all I can think about is how UNCOMFORTABLE I am. Ribs hurt from contact with his legs, arms hurt from supporting my head, neck aches.... you get the idea. We've tried me bending over the bed, but then my arms and wrists hurt from holding me up, and one of my legs threatens to cramp.

I think I should try lying over a stack of pillows or something, but I don't know if that's going to help, either. Master joked a few times about how important it is for me to be comfortable during my spankings, but he backed off of that after I started crying.

It's just so frustrating.

We talked about it some tonight (when I asked about joining this group), and he said he'd spank me more to see if it would help.

I was wondering if anyone had any new insights in the last 5 years. I see Shylah hasn't been here since March of 2010, and Jayda left in 2007. Any other FMS (or OA) sufferers out there?

If all else fails, it feels good to type it out. Thanks!

Perhaps with you over your Masters lap on some pillows, and support the rest of your body on the bed so you are not having to support yourself might be an answer. Endorphins do block pain receptors, although I do not know if it would help or not with your FMS symptoms. I did google the subject of FMS as it relates to spanking, and didn't see any conclusive evidence either way, other than a few peoples opinions on their blogs. Perhaps you could try the same thing, and leave a question or comment on their blogs and see if you get a response on the subject. Wish I could offer more helpful advice and wish you luck in finding an answer that helps you.

Thank you for your response, Zippo! I appreciate that you did some research for someone you don't know, and also that you didn't find anything more than I did. :-)

We have one of those things that you can use to sit up in bed to read - it has a back and little arm rests. We figured out that if we flip that over and have me lie over it (top half on the sloped bit and legs straight down) I'm comfortable enough.

He spanked and paddled me harder than we've done in ages, and I feel better that I was able to "take more". I thought I'd lost my edge. Then last night I was back over the bolster (don't know what else to call it) for my weekly maintenance. He said he's not going to hold back on maintenance any more because we now know I don't have to be coddled. I tried to tell him I DO need to be coddled, but he won't hear of it anymore. Oops!

I don't know if there were any endorphins, but mentally/emotionally I feel better about it, even though it means that I'm now going to be spanked much harder. I think we're on the right path, and I'm glad I finally got up the courage to talk with Master about it. I've felt horribly embarrassed.

Thanks again!

Hi-I have not been in here for months but I'm glad I dropped in tonight-I have both Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis so I understand what you are talking about. We also sometimes use a pillow-somewhat like what you use, but it is a wedge shaped one-It helps me a little as my back gets really bent out of shape and hurts almost all the time.
Your statement "but he won't hear of it anymore." concerns me. I hope "he" understands what fibromyalgia and osteo are all about. Yes there are things you can do sometimes to help enhance your "play" time but he has to listen to you when you tell him you hurt too much. As long as you only say it when it is true and not just to stop him because you don't feel like playing anymore. Not listening to you could cause you real health problems.
I know for me there are times the fibro. is so bad that my skin can barelyu handle the toch of my lightest clothing other times the slightest pinch feels like the skin is bruised-if I contimue to play when I'm that sore to start with I end up barely able to move the next day and I'm completely useless. You have to adjust your play to what you can handle physically.
As for the statement"I'd love to see if the endorphins would help with the symptoms" I have found that yes for the duration I'm playing-being spanked or punished" I will not feel the fibromyalgia pain as much although I do tend to be more sensitive and enjoy it less (wanting it to end sooner and be lighter). I beleive the reason for not feeling the fibromyalgia or osteo pain as much is that the "Pain" of the spanking for the moment is greater than the pain being felt because of these two conditions. It is after the play stops that I start to actually feel the results of the spanking-muscles will tend to cramp up, twitch, become weaker as a result of the punishment and this will cause stiffness and exessive tiredness for a few days after a good spanking session so the physical fallout is pretty rough but at the same time emotionally and phsycologically, I feel more centered and at peace so there is an upside.
You need to find out what is right for you and don't let him push you into anything you are unwilling or unable to do. Tour health comes first!

Wise words indeed Rosycheeks. I can only offer my sympathies as the only thing interfering with my spanking play is a lack of privacy! I wish you both well with your condition and I hope it doesn't stop your play altogether.

Best wishes,

Yorkie

Thank you for commenting, Rosycheeks!

My Master said he "won't hear of" coddling me anymore was because I tend to try to get out of things like maintenance. He does listen to me when I'm having problems, and if I'm having a really awful day, any scheduled maintenance is postponed or ends up being one or two light strokes. He really is a good Master - don't worry! He knows I'll get like this if he goes over the line:

Since I've posted this, I've been getting spanked much more frequently. I don't think it's helping with the pain in general, but I've been hornier than ever , and we feel closer. It's been good, even though my bottom doesn't agree!

Thanks for your sympathies, Yorkie. Sorry to hear you don't have privacy - that truly sucks!
