Admin deleted, and then posted in the "advice" thread:
"Off topic posts deleted. Please go back to the original subject. Thank you!"
_________

I'm very sorry to see this type of censorship in the Spanking Den. If issues are not talked out, and cleared up, then the bad feelings will fester. It is obvious to me that a particular member was misreading other member's remarks, and reacting in a manner inconsistent with what was being offered in postings.

Censoring the responses will not help with understanding the situation, and in fact, will only make it worse.

I wish you well with you group, but I just can't abide by censorship that interferes with communication between adults, when it's consistent with the general guidelines of the group. The "off topic" subject, actually became a topic, when it was continuing to be discussed. ALL of the threads, in this group, go the way of another (or changing) topic, yet I've seen none deleted.

I just don't do well with censorship, especially when it appeared that much of the topic was due to misunderstanding intent. Censoring and disallowing members to talk things out, makes for bad feelings to be unresolved.

I just don't support censorship, of this kind.

I wish you all well.

I'm sorry you feel this way K, but I support Bethie's decision in this and dont consider it censorship. By this time the misunderstanding should have been cleared up, and the continued re-hashing of the same thing over and over again was just keeping the bad feelings current. There is nothing to be gained by keeping a thread like this going, and I'm sure it was distressing to the original poster. Personal PM's are a better way of clearing up misunderstandings or hurt feelings between members.

We'll miss you. :-(

K, I believe this is what Bethie was attempting to stop. Hurt feelings over a topic; words that are misconstrued due to personal interpretation.
It can be a tough call to know when it has to be stopped.}

Ftop, that thread had gone too far off-topic and despite attempts by Fanny and myself to get the thread back on topic, more off-topic posts were made. If posts are off topic and disrupting a thread's continuity, it's been our practice to either edit or delete those posts. That's what I did. It was not censorship.

Especially in light of the fact that we'd asked everyone to go back to the original subject and that request was ignored. I was merely enforcing normal site practices.

I'm sorry you feel like you must leave but I was tired of having mine and my moderators requests ignored. That discussion had gone on too long and had gone too far, it wasn't going to get fixed in that thread.
