Every year the Shadowlane and Crimson Moon groups hold at least two big two day socials at hotels. How many of our group have attended these seat warming parties?

Though I never went to a party I met some really wonderful people through Shadowlane years ago. (The mid 90's) I would love to go to one of their parties but it is just hard to work into my schedule these days :-) |

I was previously quite active with Crimson Moon. Some great folks run the group, and I always found it a fun group. I've just not had the opportunity to return to Chicago. I did enjoy the CM Las Vegas party when it was there, and always enjoyed touching base (or is that touching "bottoms  ) with friends. I also enjoy SCONY back a few years ago, when they used Hellfire and Paddles for Socials. The larger group parties always gave a wonderful opportunity to meet folks that I would otherwise only know from Online.

I've been to a couple parties up in Sandusky, OH. Unfortunately they are no longer having them. But they were a lot of fun! We'd play different games for prizes, and the prizes were always some kind of spanking/sex toy. Good times! I have a close friend who is actually a professional in the spanking world and has been to lots of the big Shadowlane parties. |

Unfortunately I live in Melbourne, Florida so I don't get to attend these gatherings. If anyone knows of anything going on in Florida please let me know. |

Laszlo, I think Florida is a dry state, when it comes to spanking groups in real life. I have spoken to many Florida spankos that had hoped to start groups, but it seems that none followed through so far.
I've always been of the opinion, if the group doesn't exist, or you don't like the ones in your area...start your own. I did that here, when our local spanking group went Male Dom/Female sub,bottom only. Now, while under new management, I hear that FemDoms are "allowed" to parties, but they cannot play in the party room (unless they spank other women). Not my cup of tea, to be discriminated like that. They were better off being M/F only, than to segregate so blatantly, under the guise of allowing "all."
The local group here used to get 50-60 people at a party when I first join in 1998. Changes and time brought them down to a couple dozen and sometimes even less.
Our other spanking group isn't getting off the ground yet, and I think that goes back to many people "wanting" to get active, but fear or other reasons hold them back from coming out to meet others.
It takes time, but I think meeting others, can be fun, and while parties can be intimdating to some, it's all in name of fun. The theme is fun and socializing...and of course, spanking!

I've been itching to go to a group thing, know you're in my area and am absolutely, blantantly, abjectly, terrified of going to one. So as soon as I manage to unknot my conflicting desires I might just show up and say hello. Or not!! I would imagine you felt that way once, right? Did you imagine running into someone you know or work with while you're there? YEA, I know they'd be as shook as I but it still freaks me out a little. How did you overcome that? Anyone else care to share their way of dealing with that issue? Is it better to be a Top or a bottom in that situation?

Poofette, yes I was quite nervous to attend my first munch, which was a requirement in order to attend the first party I went to. What I did prior to this was joined an online posting group, not much unlike this one (SSS), where I got a chance to chat with a few local folks.
To ease my own tension, I worked to go with another woman that was also new. It was the first time for both of us, and it made it much more comfortable (in spite of us never meeting prior to this either).
I tend to get along in any social setting, so my fears were more like yours, with who would be there, and would I know anyone...etc.
My second munch, with that group, one of my college professors came into the coffee house. I knew he didn't live in the area, so I suspect he was there for the group, but became shy upon seeing me. Being the in-your-face sort of person that I am, of course I went over him to say hello. He seemed flustered.
I have met up with folks I know, being in a large metropolitan city makes that somewhat inevitable. Mostly former coworkers, and a then a few people I choose to hire thereafter too. The thing to remember is that if you run into them there...they are there for the same reason as you are, aren't they?
My suggestion to you, and others thinking of joining a real life group, would be to check if they have an online group, or munch group. Joining the online group, prior to actually attending a formal party will help you to see the personalities there, as well as the possibility of making some friends. If there's a munch group, you have the opportunity to socialize without the fear or pressure of thinking about playing, or watching scenes. (I can freely admit that the openess of public spanking, at my first party HORRIFIED me. )
And Poofette, you personally have the opportunity of living pretty close to someone that you already know from online, in this group....me!  I'd be happy to meet you for coffee, and while I'm not active with the one group, I can introduce you to a few wonderful people that might help put your mind at ease. (They also have a munch coming up real, REAL soon.)
Let me know, if and when you might want to meet them. I'd enjoy meeting you myself.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! Panic and excitement, what a combo almost like awaiting a spanking! Grrroan! I'm a grown woman for ****'s sake!! I haven't been called shy since I was a child!! Maybe because this is such a private part of me (being a spanko)I fear the exposure. I do appreciate your graciousness, K. I'll let you know when I work up the nerve to do it.

I'm with you Poofette. I would love to go, but terrified of someone finding out I'm a spanko. We are going on vacation this week with another couple from work. My husband said they are just going to have to close their ears. I say NO WAY! I just can't have people I work with know. I suppose, Ftop, no such thing in the Northwest states? |

Sinderella..I've been to four of the parties in Sandusky...I'm guessing we have met!! We had a small party in Toledo last year we may do it again this spring. Your right they are a blast!! |

I am a member of scony and I always have a good time. I have been to Shadow lanes but I could not go this year due to lack of funds.I think Scony parties are better because they are close to home in NYC and I am more familiar & close with the Scony members.
