I've gone to many chatrooms over the years since getting online, and I have not found a single one that didn't get silly or go into cyber play or obnoxious bratting (fine for them, 'cause they enjoyed it, but I don't).

Does anyone know where a conversational chat (with a spanking theme) might be available?

I'm not working again, so I have too much time on my hands and thought I'd give the rooms a try again. So far, I've no luck in finding real conversation.

I've always found one on one chatting more satisfying then group chats. They're too chaotic, and often you get one person who can just completely ruin the chat.

Maybe that's my inner introvert talking. ^^;

The #overlap IRC channel (irc.bdsm-net.com #overlap) tends to be fairly mature. I won't say that cyber-play, cyber-bratting and the like never occur, but its fairly rare and usually more of a playful type.

A couple of words of caution:

1) the attendance tends to be sporadic sometimes. You may come in and only find one or two people, or even an empty room. Per a recent discussion on the associated board, the best times are around 9 PM EST most nights, or a bit later on weekends. Other than that, its hit or miss.

2) most of the people in the chat have known each other for a long time (some even in R/L). A lot of the regulars were regulars in the old a.s.s. newsgroup. Most everyone tries to be welcoming of newcomers and not cliquish, but you will often find people in (for lack of a better term) "inside" conversations. Don't be afraid to jump in and participate.

My wife and I both chat there (her more than me) and its always nice to see new people.

If you want more information, you can visit the #overlap channel website. If you're not familiar with IRC, there's some good instructions on how to connect.

Chris, the Overlap group is a wonderful group a people, and I agree that the chat can vary. I used to enjoy the room a few years back, and still keep in touch with some of the group members.

Have you ever gone to a party? Perhaps we've met, or at least know some of the same people?

K, sorry, but I don't know of any. I gave up a long time ago on chatrooms and only chat (very rarely) one-on-one with people I know now.

Several people wanted to start a chat room for the Den, but I didn't want them to. It would have to conform to our standards here and we just don't have the ability to oversee that. I won't put my site's name on something I can't guarantee the quality of.

Bethie, I don't blame you. I love the integrity that you exhibit, and the way you manager your site.

I enjoyed the Overlap room as I knew the people...quite a few of them personally. The only other room I used to enjoy was a room on AOL that was local to my own area. Again, it was filled with those I knew, or would hope to meet, as most were active in the local community. I think because it was more filled with real life participants, it's made it more the type of conversations I enjoyed. I guess people stayed nice, when they knew, you knew, who they were.

K, I'm sure we know many of the same people, though I've never gone to any of the parties.

My wife's been much more active than I have. She goes by the nick of "sparkle", which is also how she was known on a.s.s.

Hey, I wasn't working when I joined this group. Mind you, it was only for about three weeks, but it was a very stressful time, as I was taking a break for personal reasons. Try not to spend too much time online. I would force myself to shut off my computer and get out of the apartment. Best intentions.

Thanks for the advice, Rob. I enjoy my morning coffee with the computer, and since getting up earlier each day (for no reason at all ), I have plenty of morning time. I usually pop on a couple times during the day, but would go nuts if I stayed on all day. No need to force myself outta the house. Sometimes...I have to force myself to stay in! Unfortunately, while not having money is the huge downside to not working, the extra time is a wonderful perk.

Chris, I remember Sparkle (although there were two variations). I went by Privte on SSS. She might remember me. I was just as vocal there.

K I moderate in a chat room....however...the cyber crap can get out of hand depending on who is in the room. Several of the poeple that chat there are friends and we have a party at least once a year. If your intrested let me know and I'll give the irc name. Like I said there are times I just have to leave...I can't stand the cyber bratting grown ups acting like 5 year olds.

We do have some great conmversations and I have met some really nice people there.

K, she remembers you. Her nick changed a couple times due to e-mail changes, but it was always some variant of "sparkle" or "asparkle".

I have recently been looking for chat room to talk to other spankee/spanko's and haven't found any that you don't have to pay for. Sounds like I'm really not missing much! Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info! I have been searching for a chatroom to talk live to other spankee/spanko's and haven't been able to find anything that doesn't require a credit card.
