I just ordered the Mini Martinet Whip from the London Tanners. Does anyone else have one of these? We've tried making one ourselves but I didn't think it was striking properly, probably something to do with the handle. I like the feeling of lots and lots of stings in a large area, like a bunch of small switches assorted lengths. Anyone experienced one of these, does it kinda feel like that? |

I haven't but Jake and I are thinking of ordering one ourselves so would love to hear your comments. We recently ordered a wildfire birch (Jake wanted desperately, I didn't, LOL) so I'll be feeling the "everywhere sting," LOL, but definitely let us know what you think of the martinet. Good luck! I think you'll need it.

I don't mind anyone telling someone where to order something they've asked about, I just don't want direct links out to commercial sites. You know, where you put in a link that someone can click on and be taken directly to the site from here. I'll do it if I already have a relationship with a company (like the advertisers who have banners up) or if I know it's a reliable company. If I'm not affiliated with a company or can't vouch for them personally, I don't want direct links out to them.

I just received my new Mini French Martinet from the London Tanners today. What a stinger that is! It heats you up fast. My husband had already stung me up with a "Ruler Strap Tawse" I designed, which Ian at the Lon. Tan. made up for me and sent with the Martinet. I only took about 6 with the Martinet (on the same spot) before I started "I can't take anymore!" He got 3 more on me before I jumped up and bailed. My bum was still stingin' 35 minutes later! I love both of these toys. He's thinking of marketing the tawse and I would recommend it, it's not too heavy and packs a nasty sting. It's made of the same leather as the ruler strap. The pieces are a bit narrower and the whole thing is a bit shorter. He made mine in dark brown with a tan handle. I love the color combination, it looks just beautiful! (If a strap can be). |

I was just thinkin'. I used the wrong word in my message above saying that I 'designed' the Ruler Strap Tawse. I only thought it up and passed the idea on to Ian. He designed it. Perfectly, I might add! |

We were playin' with our new toys last night. When he kept the martinet open there were lots of stings in a fairly large area. When they were tighter together it created a nice even burn over a fairly large area. I really like the feel of the martinet just swung "nicely". It heats the area up real fast and didn't leave any lasting marks. He'd do that for a while then use the new tawse for a while. The tawse is perfect, it doesn't have to be used hard to get a nice sting and burn (I coulda gone all night!) but used hard it can be wicked (loved that too). The martinet is quiet and the tawse is pretty good too for noise (compared to say the reformatory strap). |

Thanks for hte info on the martinet! I also have much from LT and I love their stuff - especailly the ruler strap ad reformatory straps, not to mention their tawses! Your ruler tawse sounds delightful - excellent!

The ruler tawse is sooo nice (unless you use it really hard) otherwise it has just the right amount of weight and sting and burn! He said if he markets it he's gonna call it The Nanaimo Tawse because I thought of it and I live in Nanaimo. I think Ruler Tawse is good because it's the same leather and thickness as the Ruler Strap only not as nasty. And I love the Reformatory Strap too, nice wide burn with just the right amount of thud. |
