Fellow Spankos:

I have been asked (told?) that it's time to buy a paddle. So far B has only spanked by hand but after a recent discussion on delivering a more thorough spanking he suggested maybe a paddle was in order. Ouch or mmmmm, I'm not sure yet. I have looked at several toy stores on line but can't seem to make a decision.

I am interested to know if any of you have been asked to choose your own and if you have any suggestions on type.

Cracker Barrel store carries a very good paddle ball set. Look into some of the other threads, this topic has been discussed often.

If you want mmmmmmm instead of OUCH, go for leather. It really is better to buy a paddle hands on, since their all different...harder or softer, round, oval or oblong? There are many nice ones out there.

Watch out for the ones that have a rod or metal bar down the center...their poorly made, can injure you and wont hold up to much use. You can start out with an inexpensive paddle just to see if you both enjoy it, but then I would recommend spending the money on a quality one...you wont regret it.

Wolfie is right. Leather is the best to start. It can be used for warm up or something more serious. Solid wood is usually next followered by wood with holes. I've felt both leather and with holes, avoid the holes if you have a choice. Specotter

I wish I would have read that post earlier about leather.. 'cause Tyr and I went out and bought a CB a little while ago, and it stings like a SOB. Love the feel of leather, although belts are hard to control. hmmm.. maybe I'll buy Tyrnal a leather paddle for his birthday. Hmmm...

I am refusing all paddles, even leather ones these days.

Who wants to join me on this ban?

(We need to band together on this one, ladies. Or am I out to lunch? It is only breakfast time here.)
I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Hehehehehe SNN, I love one of Steve's leather paddles, so sorry...I'll have to take a rain check on lunch.

If you have a choice? I say run like crazy if you even see a holed wooden paddle! Yikes!

Hey Wolfie, give a gal a break, I have to travel to my Dom. I was a very innocent nubie in the beginning and trust was the big issue, no place to run. How was I to know about leather? SNN has a good idea, maybe we could gather up all paddles with or without holes and start a fire--I'll bring the marshmallows.

If you bring the marshmallows, I'll bring the chocolate and graham crackers!

And we're burning only wooden paddles, not the nice leather ones. :-)

I make my own paddles because most of those I've found available are too thick and heavy. At Home Depot in their lumber section you can find poplar boards that are 1/4" x 4" x 24" for about $4. These make excellent lighter school type paddles that sting ferociously but don't bruise as much as the heavier paddles.

Dear SNN you are formally invited to our campfire. Bring any wood paddles you can find, this ban was after all your idea. Gather up all your friends and meet Wolfie and I at the campfire the more the merrier and the bigger the fire. Joanne

Thanks, Joanne, I have a few wood paddles to add to the fire! I loved what you wrote aout the dom's being wimps. It does seem that way. I haven't even seen Fruity-Man in a while (aka Kiwi-Man). Did he disappear down the black hole too?
