Is it possible that different positions cause different marks? Usually, I'm bent over the bed and I'm left with some welts, some black and blue marks, and of course the glowy red that follows a spanking that fades after a few minutes. But my last spanking I laid down flat on the bed and for the first time had lasting red marks (in the shape of a heart!) that a few days later have turned into black and blue bruises. Lovely! |

I cannot say that I have ever really noticed that the position made much difference in the marking, but I usually am not left with bruises, just red after and for a hour or so. Although I am still sore the next day. For me that soreness the next day is almost as good as the spanking itself sometimes. |

I don't think I've noticed a differnce in the postion and marking. I'm not left with marks very often.
Like you Oftenred I love to have some soreness the next day but that doesn't happen very often anymore. I think my butt is just getting tough...it takes a lot to mark or leave a lasting impression. |

Personally I have noticed that the more the buttocks are stretched (as in "thinning out the target area")(bend over and touch toes kind of scenario) the more likely marks will appear - if all else fails just administer the strokes harder - worked for me and my subbie (safe word being all important if you go that route)

yes i think so depends on the postion your in some i give my wife welts that go vertical in stead of horizontal |

This is one of the areas that varies so much with people. A lot depends on skin tones and of course, positioning. Another concideration is how much a spankee likes to be left with marks or bruises. Some of us like a nice bright pink or red and others are into marks and or bruises.
Go with what you are comfortable with.
