At our lead moderator's invitation, I'm reposting this question that I posed in my self-introduction of 1/3:
Learning that I'm not some rare species has been more than gratifying. In fact, from some of the statistics I've read concerning those reporting being predisposed in our direction (as high as 50% adult males, 30% adult females), I'm not sure our penchant even qualifies as a kink. Ergo, how many more, does the collective wisdom suppose, might be as we are but would almost rather die than admit it? Hmmmm.

Personally I think most people would rather die than admit it. Just from watching people and listening to some things they say, you know alot of them are out there.

Well.... I myself wouldn't rather die then admit what I'm into. But I would be rather careful who I told and how much I told them.
I guess it is still kinda of a tabo and most people just don't want the world to know what they like.
Sometimes the being secreative part makes it more fun...at least for my husband and me. |

I agree Tammy, a big part of the fun is the fact that it is a secret game between my husband and me.
Truthfully, if the secret ever came out, I believe I am experienced and mature enough to live with it. Yes, people would be surprised or even shocked, but how I chose to lead my life is no one else's business but mine. If someone cannot accept that part of me, than they cannot accept me. Therefore, what the heck are they doing in my life anyway?
The other part of the situation is; I don't care to know anything about anyone else's private life either. If someone needs to go bragging about what they are doing, who exactly are they trying to impress?

Okay, the question has me thinking, so I did a bit of research.
Kink: a bizarre or unconventual sexual preference or behavior.
Fetish: a nongenital part of the body that causes a habitial erotic response.
Since I do not consider spanking to be bizarre or unconventual, as it is a world wide common practice, I am going to have to vote that no, spanking is not really a kink, but more a fetish.
That said, I don't think we need to label ourselves in any manner.

I have seriously told one female friend of mine that my wife spanks me. Besides that...my wife and I have made many jokes around friends at parties, etc. that we have a few whips and paddles that we play with. I think it's just an embaressing thing for people to admit even though a majority are, at a minimum, curious. |

I think we need to keep in mind that there are many things in our personal life that we do not need to share. Others who are not into our own mindset, will never understand.
An example of this outside of the spanking world is that I nursed my babies for longer than the average mother. I will not discuss this with anyone else because I will get labeled for that as well.
The way I feel, if things are consentual and no one is getting harmed, what anyone does is their own business.
