This is my first attempt at starting a thread, oso Bethie, if I've done this wrong, please fix it and tell me.
Has anyone had any success in using ginger "figging" anally as a pain inducement?
We've tried it, after reading a lot about it on refereenced sites, and, while experiencing some smarting, did not find it any near the attention getter it was reputed to be.
Are we missing something?

I tried ginger and liked it but it requires a bit of preparation - peeling and carving, insertion then disposal... There is a lot of variation from one finger to another depending on its age and how it grew (like some radishes are hot and others more mild, same with ginger.) Also individual sensitivities vary widely. Like with chili-peppers, some with sensitve skin may actually blister, while other have a minimal reaction.
I have found the salves meant for sore muscles - Heat, Icy Hot, A535 (many brands and strengths available) require a lot less effort, are more consistent, and do the same job... Trick is to find a brand with the strength to provide the desired sensation in the desired spot, though the amount and surface area can be adjusted as well. Note - shaving and other things like sweating (open pores) can still make a difference so start slow until you know how your body reacts.
Start with a brand that does not claim to be "extra strong" and try it on thick skin and move to thinner sensitive skin and possibly even to those really sensitive moist areas as you learn how much it "burns" and what you like.
I like it applied in lines and symmettric patches on the normal "erogenous zones", the normal figging area, and the less sensitive areas of the genitals.
The sensation lasts about 20 minutes tops, no major cleanup needed, and even if the burn has you dancing, I do not beleive any actual skin damage results. (soap and water will kill "most" but not all of the burn if things get too hot.)

If you want to go with ginger I would suggest peel it right before you use it.. I usually keep mine in the fridge until I peel it (not sure if you are supposed to or not). If it's going to be used later but you want it ready when you are ready for it, put it in a glass of ice water.. it'll keep it fresher a little bit longer.. and it'll be cold so the burning sensation will seem worse when you start to feel it.

Thanks to each of you who have responded with your ideas and suggestions. I think we've put this one in our 'different, but more trouble than its worth' bucket.
Anyway, thanks again for all of the input.

an alterntive I have used is a cream - capsaisin HP - the hp stands for high potency. It is a cream sold in wal mart for painful joints and muscles, and made of the hot oil fom hot petters. Spread on the cheeks, it has been called a "silent spanking", and the heat builds and can't be washed away. Caution - do not get near any sensitive openings or eyes!!

I agree with Mstrjasotk about the Capsaisin HP, it is definantly the silent spanking for sure. I have had that applied to me before to make the punishment more interesting (according to him) and then afterwards I would be spanked. Let's just say it's definantly not something I want to ever experience again.
