This is something that interests me, and I'd like others responses as well. 
Bottoms:
1. How many of you prefer rituals during spanking. If yes, to what extent?
2. What is your preferred level of dress during a spanking? Fully nude, partially nude (top/bra still on), panties, bare-bottom only...explain your preference.
Tops:
1. Do you follow a specific ritual during spankings? Does it vary depending on the person, or is it generally the same for everyone. Elaborate, please.
2. What's your favorite mode of dress (or undress) for the bottom?

1. I like things spontaneous, never quite sure when, where and how things are going to turn out.
2. I prefer to the actual spanking to begin while still dressed. I like the idea of only having my bottom and ultimately my legs being bared. I wear dresses and skirts a lot, easy access, escpecially in the summer. I also like R to be completley dressed during the spanking. It makes it all seem more real to me.

1. I don't know about rituals as I've never had a spanking with a ritual. Rituals seem to give me an idea of UH OH I'm in trouble. So if I'm in trouble, I think the idea of ritual would have me so nervous I'd be ready to climb the walls or out the window or simply try to disappear. YIKES!!! 
2. I prefer to be dressed to start with and eventually my pants are slid down while OTK. It amazes me how easy it seems Mr. B can get my pants down even when I'm not cooperating. I like Fanny prefer Mr. B to be dressed also. Unless it's one of those spanking that happen in bed before you go to sleep.
3. The one thing I would sort of like is to have a specific place in the house to be spanked. Like in Mr. B's den. Now see that is conjuring up pictures in my head already of Mr. B saying "get to the den" and me knowing what is going to happen there. That perhaps could develop into a sort of ritual. As being a specific place. But so far that has not happened.
The Spice of Life is having my OWN WAY!! A spanking would be nice.

I do happen to enjoy some ritual with my spankings. Theres something about knowing your getting spanked for being naughty, watching him prepare, fidgeting nervously...all this ratchets up the excitement for me and enhances the whole experience. Its not that I dont love spontaneity as well, I do. That kind of adds shock value to the whole thing and can stay with you a very long time. Everything about spanking is exciting/arousing/dominating to me and so anything that adds to the build-up only makes it that much better.
We have a ritual for punishments that I dont like...even though I have to admit it works.
State of dress doesnt matter too much to me, although I have a preference for long t-shirts with nothing on underneath. Easy access and so much fun to tease him with when you suddenly bend over to pick something up!

1. I love both - rituals as well as spontaneity... it depends on my mood, whether the spanking is for fun, for pleasure or a punishment one. Punishment rituals as simply gorgeous, it's very impressive... and effective

I have never really had much chance for a ritual, only because my spankings are few and far between. But Tyr and I recently started one. (We only do this if I have a discipline spanking coming) I have had some past issues, and I am not a sex driven person. In that, I don't want sex that often. So, we start out with a fun play type spanking that always leads to sex. Then after he is fulfilled we have our ritualistic "after sex cigarette" (since we have to go outside I of course have to get dressed). When we get back inside is when the punishment comes. He puts me across his knee (sometimes I have to take off my own pants, sometimes he does) ... the rest is kinda obvious.
I prefer to have my shirt on and just my bottom bared. I don't like to be completely naked. I feel that being completely naked is not as humiliating as having just my pants down (around the ankles). I may be crazy but that's how I feel.

I can think of several rituals... he likes to have me dressed in a way that it pleases his eyes - might be schoolgirl skirt (I bought him one as a birthday gift, he was so entranced that most of the caning was on my covered bottom :-)), or anything else, pantyhose etc. So dressing up (me) and preparing the table and the implements (him) is kind of a ritual for us... it's not swift, it makes me reflect on what's going on. Usually I get more of a punishment kind of a spanking then. Moreover, if not, it kind of doesn't suit the situation. But mainly I'm quite pleased that I backed up from what's anyway inevitable... sooner or later the pain will come to the extremes, in this, I'm quite not understandably insistent. It's quite interesting what you're saying, Kendra. It seems like you feelings are very different to mine, my spankings are never about humiliation, I don't want to feel humiliated... maximum I want to feel is to feel deeply sorry. I would be probably too worried to let humiliation sip into our relationship, I would feel too submissive then which I'm not, but you probably need it in a different way. Moreover, I do love sex after the spanking, though after the punishment ones we usually don't, or quite later, because I usually don't feel sexually aroused then, the emotions are rather contemplating, satisfaction of my guilty feelings, kind of a strange elation being at ease with myself at last. But he usually feels like making love and is skillful and understanding enough to make me respond after some time I needed to gather myself up . I can hardly imagine having sex before the spanking, it wouldn't make me feel good. |

Ritual is great and so is spontaneity.Grabbing your loved one at just the right time and throwing her over your knee can be the start of something wonderful.With a disciplinary spanking the very fact that it's for real suggests an implicit ritual,whatever that may be for each couple. In an erotic spanking,doesn't ritual mean "acting"? Nothing wrong with that if you can keep a straight face.

I guess I have a rather eclectic approach to spanking and to being a Top. As far as I'm concerned - anything goes - as long as it works (i.e. brings pleasure to both parties).
In the range of my experience (which isn't all that extensive), my partner(s) and I have mostly both been naked - probably because the spankings have been erotic rather than punishment. In "punishment" or "maintenance" situations (not that common), I've typically been dressed or partially so, with my sub partner being totally or partly nude.
It has inded been fun to lift a skirt, peel down panties, etc as spankings progress. I think clothing also acts to soften initial strokes and to ease the sub/partner into the mood and mode. As each layer is removed, the intensity and sensation of spanking increases, even if I'm using the same force.
And then there's the visual appeal associated with progressive nudity - fully clothed butt, then panties revealed, then a naked and reddened bottom. At the same time, my partner feels an increasing sense of vulnerability, exposure, sensuality, etc.
For those "erotic" spankings where we are both usually naked, the bareness allows good access to all erogenous zones during pre-spanking foreplay. In addition, as the spanking progresses, my sub/partner can easily see the effects on me.
And yes, I've found spontenaity fun in all spanking situations.

I've always told my s/o that I'm gonna spank you, not your pants. I believe a bare bottom increases the sense of vulnerabilty in the spankee. Another ritual I like is making her bring me the implement I am going to use. As far as the rest of the clothes are concerned, they usually come off after I have warmed her up OTK with a good hand spanking and before we change posistions for implement use. As a top or a bottom, I like the contrasting power/vulnerability of spanker fully dressed, and spankee mostly or completely bare. Sometimes it's nice to start by spanking over skirt, carry on over panties, then move on to no clothes. I like ritual of demanding the spankee undress, with a few encouraging swipes to hurry them up. Also the ritual of rules leading to added punishment if broken, eg hand moves in front of bottom - extra, wriggle around too much - spanked thighs. I don't enjoy rituals, or ever being predictable. Everyone is different, and every scene is different. I love variety, and I like the spankee to never know what to expect.
Question #2. What's your favorite mode of dress (or undress) for the bottom?
Spankee will eventually end up bare bottom, but he will ALWAYS be in masculine attire. I like the combination boxer/brief short...whatever it's called, or silky boxers, to be pulled down to bare.
As for me, I usually try to work their hot button, so if I know what outfit or style gets to them...then I'm apt to dress that way. I tend to enjoy wearing a skirt, or suit, with heels of course. Just casual clothes works too, but I'm always fully dressed while spanking.

Rituals....rock. I find that the more elaborate and extensive the "preparation" the better the before hand butterflies in my tummy and the hotter the spanking and sex is during. For instance, my top texts (on my cell phone)me a message like shave...or wear the white corset...or simply a command to do something without him being around. The more he teases and toys with me the better I like it. Although...there is something to be said for a unexpected flip over his knee....

On the subject of state of dress for spanking, I sometimes like the variant of pulling the panties up rather than down - wedgie style. This is best when spankee is a kneeling position, and asked to keep pulling the underwear up tight. This effectively means a bare bottom, it's sensual/painful between the legs, and it's embarrassing. Extra swipes can be added if they let go at all, or fail to pull it up tight enough. |

 This is one of those areas where my 'admittedly vanilla' Dear Husband could use some improvement. He has adapted wonderfully well to the actual physical act of spanking me, but there is really no set-up or ritual or 'speciallness' to it at all. I think he sees it as just another bit of foreplay that must be performed to get us both 'up for it'. I would LOVE  to have him tell me to bend over the bed, then pull my panties down to right below my cheeks to start. Then, after a bit, I would like him to pull them down to my knees, and tell me to spread my legs tight open. Then, after another bit, pull them off, and tell me to spread my legs as wide open as I could.
