I'm sorry, but not entirely surprised, to tell you that Katie Spades, the self-appointed "Princess of Spanking," is a fraud who in an interview with Beer.com admitted she was only involved in spanking to make a "boat load" of money.

I listened to the interview myself and she said some pretty negative and a few completely incorrect things about spankos.
The main reason I wanted to say something about this is that she has a new site called "Save Katie" where she and Jake are asking for donations. Despite all the money she claims to have made doing what she now calls "foul" in her spanking videos, they want people to give them over a half of a million dollars.
Please don't give these people money! They're the worst kind of users.
I was really pissed to hear her comment on how she joined these forums just to drum up business. That just pisses me off to no end! It's also another example of why I'm so adamant about not letting people talk their sites up here. Grrrrr!

It's impossible to know when Katie is telling the truth... and a great deal can be said on the subject. We know this much, she is lying in several ways... and she doesn't deserve a cent out of this community. And, she is asking it for $650,000.
On her Yahoo group, she blames her poor health on her decision to not be involved with spanking. But, she adds that she'll return when her health improves. She's also sending Emails out to different bloggers with the same story... and asking them to link to her "Save Katie" donation site.
People should know what she's saying away from the spanking community before giving her money... and what she says is most unkind.

Rant and rave all you want Bethie!! People like Katie and Jake are dispicable!! I saw this so-called "Save Katie" site (I was one of the people who got email from them, Todd!) and I can't believe their audasity (to use an illness for cash). You can then go to her myspace and read about all the things she is doing regarding films...etc...so why ask for $$??!! It really angered me too. 
Unfortunately, there will be people out there who will donate......scammers are everywhere. We need to be informed and I am so glad you are doing that for us Bethie!

Well...I'm so glad I read this. I too received an e-mail and I wondered how much to believe. I wouldn't have sent any money...as I have very little of it to give away.
It pains me to think of all the stuff I've read from and about Katie...to think that she was just a fraud the whole time.

Well, I feel like I should add to this thread although I haven't been involved on this forum much lately. As an aside, Bethie, I owe you an email. I'm sorry I've been out of touch...
I personally have always had issues with katie,both from a "catty" place (I heard the same rumors most other people did that she felt all the models in the industry are unattractive), but also because her story never added up. I also felt that her "participation" on forums was very focused on her, and not as much on the community.
So, with that said, I personally am looking foward to being more involved again in the community, and apologize for my long silence on most of the boards around the net. I'm not sure this is the best place to say that, because I would hate for anyone to paint me with the same brush as katie (just looking for self promotion), but I'm really disturbed by all of this both on a personal level, and on behalf of the industry that I am very passionate about.

Todd, yes, what she's been saying has been very unkind and like you, I don't think she deserves a cent more out of this community. That was my main goal in starting this thread.
The girl lies easily and often so who knows if she really is sick? She sure is getting around a lot and working long hours (if you believe what she says on her blog) for someone who's so ill she needs that much money donated.
She said she's already recieved a lot of donations from her fans and friends, but who knows? I didn't see any indication of that on her donation site that's supposed to be tracking the amount of money she's received. So either she's lying about receiving donations, or they're not reporting it on their own site. Either way, it's not right. Not that anything they've done so far has been.
I checked just to be sure, and I did ask when they first joined in Dec '05 if they were here to self-promote and she denied it. But once Jake found out I wouldn't let them promote her videos or post promotional pics, he never posted here again.
I have to say this about Katie though, she's awfully conceited and not nearly as pretty as she thinks she is. I hate what she's said about the other models not being attractive. It's not true for starters, but why would anyone say that sort of thing? She's not even trying to hide her disdain for our community.
Katie explained how she got started, "My boyfriend and I sold our videos. I would talk on forums like with the other people and so they got to know me. And I started a Yahoo group and quickly like it grew and I had over 10,000 members." and went on about that. Then the interviewer said he thought the way she manipulated the market for her own financial gain was just briliant and she immediately answered that "Yeah, that was kinda the plan!"
Then she went on to say she made lots of money. Well, if that's true, then she doesn't need anymore of ours.

I was one who heard Katie when she was on the Howard Stern show and I was appalled to know that she was representing the spanking world. I do not hesitate to say she sounded as stupid as can be. I hated to think that listeners thought we were all as ridiculous sounding as she was. Even the cast of the show were making fun of how stupid she came across.

It's fakes and frauds like her that make the industry sad. When I got honest with myself and my spanko side about um 13 years ago now -- there were true spankos in the scene then and the videos were not a bunch of fake girls just doing it for a buck. Karma will bite her in the butt -- and she will wish it was paying her when it does. |
