I know I shouldn't worry about such things... but why does a spanking seem to help with all this stress.

Due to a variety of issues my stress level had reached what had to be an all time high. Life's been crazy to the point that I wasn't able to sleep more than 2 hours at a time for several days in a row. Then, hubby spanked me last night. It had been a while, longer than we had been letting things go but as seems to be common, life interferes. But today, despite the fact that nothing that was causing me stress has changed, I feel all better. I feel relaxed, and calm, and peaceful. And last night I slept for a solid 6 hours and I actually feel rested instead of exhausted.

I know that I should be grateful instead of questioning it... but it's such a dramatic change. All from 1 little spanking.

I know that for me...spanking is a HUGE stress reliever. It just seems to set things right again. It is relaxing at least for me. You said exactly what I feel after being spanked. Calm and peaceful. I also sleep better. Getting spanked sometimes is almost like a work out for me and I always sleep better. I think just knowing that my husband loves me and cares enough about me to spank me when I need it...just seems to make things right again.

Its like a relase for me and sometimes you just need that release.

I'm sure there is a medical/scientific reason behind this and I am going to research it. A spanking is not unlike a physical work out that releases chemicals into the body. Emotionally, I feel a whole lot better after a spanking and I am sure it is for a bunch of reasons.

A HUGE part of stress relief is that you are not in control ! A person who cares about you is...and emotionally we realize we are not alone and don't have to be in control. Just taking time out to refocus seems to help !
Good spankings are SUPPOSED to hurt !

Thanks all! Firstly for letting me know that this feeling isn't all that crazy. Secondly for actualy responding - since this was the first time I started a thread aside from the greeting one. I felt a bit nervous.

I like the idea of there being a medical/scientific reason for this, and having thought about it, I may have something to add to your research Fanny. We all know that there is a release of endorphins, and they make us feel good. Well, chemically endorphins are closely related to the narcotic pain medications - morphine, demerol, codeine, etc. The only real difference is that we make it ourselves and can't tinker with the dose we get, the way we can with medications. And that it's impossible to overdose on endorphins.
