Liam rolled to sit next to the chair that had been in the room, then sat, patiently watching MJ, noting her muscles slowly relaxing and her tapping fingers slowly become less and less frantic. Once again, she asked for release. “M-May I come out of the corner?”

Liam paused, decided to give her a chance. “Turn around.” MJ turned in her position, but didn’t step out. “Something you want to say, little girl?” She shook her head, but Liam pressed. “Are you sure?”

“I didn’t lie!,” MJ burst out. “I didn’t, and I don’t like being called a liar!” Liam pressed his lips together, not out of anger but to try to prevent the grin from slipping out.

“Okay,” Liam said, his easy tone surprising her. “Let’s talk about it.” He gestured for her to sit on the chair, turning to face her when she did.

“Really?” MJ blinked at him, obviously having expected to have been back over his lap. “Is this how it works?”

Liam did grin this time, and shrugged. “I don’t know about anyone else, kitten. But I don’t like to spank someone without making sure I know all I can about the situation - including their feelings. And I don’t like spanking someone without making sure that they understand why they’re getting spanked. So, yeah. Let’s talk about why we’re here. Why you’re being punished.”

MJ blushed, to Liam’s pleasure, but stubbornly shook her head. “Yeah, okay! But I wanna talk about you claiming I lied.” She folded her arms across her chest. “I didn’t. And you’re a jerk for saying I did!”

It was Liam’s turn to be surprised, but not in a good way. “Jerk? Yeah, you’re not ready to discuss this.” He wheeled back just a little and gestured his head toward to corner. “Nose in the corner, little girl.”

MJ opened her mouth to argue, and Liam cut her off in an attempt to save her from even more spanking. “No. You have a rule about obeying me, little girl, and you need to remember it. Nose in the corner. Now.”

MJ snapped her mouth shut and she glared at him, but she did stand up and stomp her way to the corner.

“Seriously? Are you trying to prove that you really are a little girl? Back here, now.” Liam shook his head as she stomped back to his side, mulishly glaring at the floor now. He let his voice lower into a dangerously soft tone.

“I told you that we’ll talk about why you’re about to get bare-bottom spanked. About what you said. And about what I said. But I told you we’ll do it on my schedule, little girl. And it’s always going to be that way. You calling me names? Stomping and throwing a tantrum? That’s not going to make me do things on your schedule. It’s just going to get you into more trouble.” He paused, seeing some of the stubbornness leave her face. “Since your attitude tells me that you’re not ready, you’re going to go and stand in the corner until you are. And we’ll try again.” He stopped talking and pointed to the corner.

MJ opened her mouth to argue, closing it as Liam’s expression darkened. MJ went back to her corner, obviously still unhappy but at least not stomping. This time, she folded her arms across her chest, staring at the corner and holding herself rigid.

“Unh uh. Arms at your sides,” Liam corrected her. He waited as she huffed, but finally obeyed him. And then he got comfortable as he watched MJ come to terms with this new reality. By his watch, it took about 10 minutes for her to finally let go of enough of her anger and sass that he felt comfortable calling her out.

“Let’s try again. Come out of the corner, little girl. Sit down.” MJ didn’t hesitate, and didn’t look at him as she walked - not stomp - over to sit in the chair. “Better,” Liam murmured.

He took pity on her, and tackled her biggest concern first. “So, you’re angry that I said you lied. I would be, too, if someone called me a liar.”

“Right! So why-“ Liam silently cut MJ off simply by holding one finger up. “Do you know what I believe you weren’t honest about?” She hesitated, but shook her head at him.

“Babygirl, do you *really* think you’re very fat? Fat enough to be equated with a horse?” Liam put it right out there.

“What?! No! Well, kinda. Well. A little. No. I guess not. Why does that matter?”

“Don’t you remember what you said to me?” Liam raised an eyebrow at her. “I asked you to sit on my lap, and you not only refused, but you told me it was for my own good, and that was because you’re too fat. Specifically, you said you were the size of a horse.” The stubbornness fell from MJ’s expression, and he nodded at her. “You’re not in trouble for refusing to sit on my lap, by the way. That was an invitation, not a direction. And it’s your right to refuse that. But you *are* in trouble for deciding for me. You *are* in trouble for insulting yourself. Again. And, as you’ve just acknowledged that you *don’t* think that you’re fat, I stand by my statement that you lied.”

MJ had started worrying her lower lip as Liam listed out her offenses. “I - well, I *am* overweight,” she argued weakly. Liam raised an eyebrow at her, glancing at her curvy frame. “I *am*,” she insisted.

“Okay,” Liam nodded. “I’ll accept ‘overweight’ as a self-critique. Bu you should know,” he leaned forward to look directly in her face, “I think you look lovely. I think you’re beautiful. I like your body, the size and the shape of it.” He nodded firmly. “But, overweight is a statement of fact. It’s simply the reality of the situation. ‘As big as a horse’? No. That won’t play. And I just asked you if you’re fat, and you said ‘no’. So, which is it? Which is the truth?”

MJ slumped into her chair, her emotions all over the place. She groaned. “I. I have no idea. I guess it wasn’t true. But, I … it wasn’t a lie.” Liam gestured for her to continue, giving her time to think when she seemed to be struggling for words. “I -“ she shrugged, “I know I’m not fat, really.”

“Then why did you say it, kitten?” he asked softly.

“I don’t -“ MJ cut herself off, realizing that Liam wouldn’t accept that she didn’t know. She thought, trying to explain. “I say those things, I guess, because I know other people are thinking them.”

Liam smiled softly, “So you figure you’ll say it first?”

“Yeah, I guess. And, sometimes, it makes people laugh. You know, like a joke.”

“Ah.” Liam thought a moment. “Baby girl, you’re *not* fat. God, your curves are gorgeous” He ignored her blush. “And you’re not stupid, or an idiot, or any of the horrible things that you’ve said about yourself tonight. And you were talking to me. Do you think *I* was thinking those things?”

She hadn’t thought about that. “No,” she said softly, shaking her head for emphasis. “I don’t believe you think those things.”

“Then where was the need to say them? Why would you need to make a joke - which that really isn’t, despite people’s reactions? I think it’s become a habit, kitten. A bad one.” Liam let his words sink in. “But, you’re right about something. I don’t believe you were lying, per se. I’m sorry I said that.”

“Seriously?!” MJ sat up, looking a little shocked. “You’re apologizing to me?”

“Why shouldn’t I? I made an assumption, it was wrong, I said something that you didn’t like and that may have hurt you. Why shouldn’t I apologize?”

“I … wow. I didn’t think a Dom would do that.”

“Again, why not? If a person is wrong, kitten, a person is wrong. They need to accept it, address it, make amends.”

MJ relaxed, smiled softly and nodded. “Thank you. I appreciate that. Wait, you said something that you shouldn’t. Does that mean that you get spanked now?”

Liam laughed, “Nice try, brat. No. That part of us is purely a one-way road.” He sighed softly and got more serious. “Speaking of which. While you’re not at all in trouble for lying - and, again, I’m sorry, kitten - there are some things to discuss about your behavior.” Liam stared at MJ long enough to make her squirm before finally tackling the issues.

“Which of us is in charge, baby girl?”

“You are.”

“Right. When do you get to make decisions for me, based on what you think is right *for me*?”

“Umm, I don’t, I guess.”

“You guess?”

“I don’t.” MJ shook her head, now nervously playing with her fingers.

“Nope. You don’t get to decide for me. Not even a little. If I’ve asked or invited you to do something, and you don’t want to, that’s fine. If you don’t want to curl up on my lap, you don’t have to. But, if you don’t have an objection to something, you don’t get to say ‘no’ to it for my benefit. That can be a fine line, so I’ll make it simple. I’m in charge. I set the rules for myself - not you. I set the limits for myself - not you. And we talked about this before, didn’t we?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Did you understand it after we spoke last time?”

“Yes, Sir,” her voice lowered with each question and answer.

“Okay. Next topic.” Liam just looked at MJ as she stared at her fingers. When she peeked up and saw his expression, she paled and rubbed her tummy. “Yeah. I’m gonna say it again. I’ll probably have to say it a lot, and I’m okay with that.” Liam leaned forward, getting right in MJ’s space. “I think you are funny and witty and clever and beautiful. And I think you have a gorgeous body. I enjoy talking with you and enjoy being with you. You are *not* an idiot. You are *not* stupid. You are *not* fat.” He held her eyes until she finally nodded. “And I do *not* like you saying those things about yourself, little girl.”

He sat back in his chair. “But did you know that? Did you know that you shouldn’t insult yourself?”

“Yes, Sir,” MJ replied in a terribly small voice.

“Did you know how I felt about it?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Did you know that doing that would earn you a spanking?”

MJ whimpered. “Yes, Sir. But, I didn’t mean to do it! I’m sorry!”

“I imagine you didn’t intend to. I believe it’s a thoughtless habit. One that I want broken, little girl. And I believe that you’re sorry. But I intend to make certain you’re sorry for the right reason.” Liam watched as it sank in on MJ that she was out of time. He wheeled back a little bit. “Stand up, little girl. Let’s get this done.”

She so desperately had wanted to be spanked. Had dreamt for so long about being punished. Being disciplined. Fantasized about a determined man, holding her to expectations and soundly spanking her when she didn’t. But now facing the reality of those dreams and fantasies, MJ wanted nothing more than to be a hundred miles from here.

“Liam, *please*, I’m really so sorry!”

“Whats your first rule, little girl?”

MJ hated this feeling. There was no loophole she could use, no crack in his reasoning that she could exploit. She had no way out. With a soft, tearless sob, she recited, “I may not stall or procrastinate when you give me a direction or ask me a question.”

“Then what should you be doing right now?”

With another nervous sob, MJ tremulously stood up from her chair, stepping over to Liam’s side, her hands at her stomach, nervously rubbing there. Liam took one of her hands in his, holding it gently. “You have a new rule, kitten. You may not insult or put yourself down. Repeat that to me.”

“I may not insult or put myself down.” She gasped as Liam tugged on her hand the moment she was done speaking, settling her over his lap.

“Keep your hands in front of you, kitten. If you put a hand back, I may accidentally smack it. I plan to only use my hand this time, so that might not be as bad. But it’s not a habit I want you getting into. Hands in front of you.” MJ immediately clenched her hands together, gasping again as Liam flipped her skirt up over her back, displaying her hight cut light blue panties.

“This is punishment, little girl. And I’m really not happy with your behavior, so it’s going to hurt. I intend to make sure of that. But remember that you have a safe word. If this gets to be too much, you *will* use it.”

“Yes, Sir.” MJ screwed her eyes tightly closed, all allure of this position long since fled. Her eyes flew wide open a moment later as Liam’s large, calloused hand landed on her right bottom cheek. Hard. A matching one fell to her left cheek before the burn from the first had even peaked. Much much too late, MJ realized there was a vast difference between fantasy and reality. Liam had only just started, and she was ready for him to stop.
