My friends and I used to do these logic riddles in school. I saw this one and smiled. Hope it does the same for you.
There are no tricks, nor any math.
I warn you though -- pen and paper may be required.
And by the way, this used to be called Einstein's Riddle (if anyone wants to cheat, that'll help!)
In a street, there are five houses, painted five different colors. In each house live a person of different nationality. The five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke a different brand of cigarette and keep a different pet.
The Brit [Englishman] lives in the red house.
The Swede has a dog.
The Dane drinks tea.
The green house is on the left of the white house.
The owner of the green house drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Mall has birds.
In the yellow house, they smoke Dunhill.
The man living in the middle house drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The man who smokes Blend lives next to the house with cats.
The horseman lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
The German smokes Prince.
The Norwegian lives next door to the blue house.
The man who smokes Blend has a neighbor who drinks water.
Someone owns a zebra. Who is it? |

Nothing like making my brain work.
I think its the German in the 4th house which is green.  Maybe?? |

Only if the Norwegian is in the first house where the houses are numbered from left to right where "left" is defined the same as for "the green house is on the left of the white house" If the houses are numbered from the right then the zebras are in the last house (which is still green with a big "Willkommen" sign  .) |

So it is the German, who lives in a Green house...
Do you know what he drinks and smokes?
And by the way, the house number is irrelevant, because it is arbitrary. It can be either 4 or 5.
I'll be away all weekend. I will check up on y'all Monday! |
