Manhole Covers. Why is it better to have round manhole covers
than square ones?

A disc such as a man hole cover will not fall through the circular hole. A square man hole cover can at the right angle fall through a square opening causing a potential injury.

I've probably missed this discussion, but I can tell you that there are still square or rectangular tops on septic tanks, and if you ever mess up moving one to pump out the tank, you will clearly understand why round is better
