I'm just wondering.

Does your hubby/wife/SO sometimes treat you like you don't have a brain in your head? I mean...I've been cooking since I could stand on a chair to reach the stove and he thinks he needs to tell me how to prepare something.

He's NEVER used a sewing machine in his life but he looks over my shoulder and tries to tell me how to sew.

I've been driving since I was 15 but he wants to tell me how. He's even reached over and grabbed the steering wheel!

I don't know how I get dressed all by myself!!!

Anyone else have this or am I just being menopausal and picky???????

Oh my goodness, you mean like "it would be faster if you sewed that seam like so" , don't brake so late and hard, it is hard on the brakes, why are you leaving so much space between that car when stoping at the light. Can't you fill up the washer more and do less loads. I could go on and on.

And don't forget "don't drive over the bumps so fast you'll wear out the shocks"

Yes and then when I have finally had enough and say "ok then you just drive"...he follows with "no, you are doing fine...just trying to help you" grrrrrr that gets on my last nerve!!

I think the easiest way to get a person to stop doing this to you is.... if cooking, hand them the spoon, potholder, and walk out of the kitchen saying "Call me when supper is done."

I haven't sewn in years, and two years ago we decided we wanted to make our Halloween Costumes. I couldn't believe all the stuff he knew about sewing and he hadn't ever set down to a machine.
I would perfer to never sew another costume the rest of my life. LOL

Driving for us is a different matter, he drives if we both go somewhere. He doesn't like my driving at all. I don't know why.... ;) I get from point A to point b in the shortest time possible. But without being completely reckless.

Now Shylah, what happened to having patience??? :D

If you're out of patience how bout sewing some beads on him? Beat he would look cute with a few well placed beads.

I can't really say much, I'm guilty of the same thing when DH is driving...but hey, if he's not being careful, I *will* say something!

If he's bugging me about something (like cooking), I do almost the same thing that Cheekychipmunk does. I'll tell him that he can "show me how" if he wants. And if he continues to offer suggestions, THEN I leave!

I hear ya Shylah, and I can say it's not menopausal anything, cause I'm not there yet. But I too would offer to let him take over, and if the comments continue, walk away and leave him to it. Also I recommend gettiing him to sit down and discuss this, and how you feel when he does this at some point when it's NOT happening, and you can be calm while stating your feelings about it. My hubby has been a bit better about this since I did that.
