WEll nowwwwwwwww....

It seems that it has been established in the UK that what banks are charging people for overdrawing accounts is unlawful. They actually cost £2.30 to go through the process of the amount overdrawn but charge people anywhere from £25 to £30 for the event. There has been a program on the tv about it. They are actually charging people a penalty which is UNLAWFUL. There is a site here that explains how to sue the bank and get all that money back...not only from banks but from credit card companies as well. They have all the information you need, a forum for help, and how to do all of it step by step with cites to prove your claim. You can go back 6 years.

It's great. We are getting ready to go and file the court claim tomorrow. We stand to get £1225 at it stands at the moment. They keep trying to put their own charges through our account when there isn't enough to cover it...charges us for putting it in and then charges us again to back it out. They did that twice in one week costing us £125!!!!!!

The best thing of it all...a judge has now ruled that the banks (who ALL have had to pay up!!) to stop delaying payments till the last moment. All the banks are doing now is digging themselves in a deeper hole.

It's great...the little guy is finally winning!!
Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.

Are they also paying the prevailing interest rate over the six years? It's usually best to collect the amount they have illegally taken from you before suing for the interest they made on your (and everyone else's) money.
It's not enough that they throw out the greedy rascal who was promoted for proposing the 25 to 30 pound fee, but that they kick them on the way out the door.

Thats great Shylah!!

I wish they would make it unlawful here in the states. It is a crime what they charge. I work for a bank and it has some of the highest charges.

Mainframe...YES we are able to charge 8% interest per year at the time of filing the court claim. Until then, all you are allowed to do is send them letters telling them of your intentions and giving them a chance to cough up. They did acknowledge our first letter wanting us to settle for half the amount. Half?? I don't think so! I can get it all and I fully intend to.
