Apparently it wasn't enough for me to have the worst cramps I've had in years. Nor was it enough to have thought I was pregnant and have that dashed away. Nope, On top of that, I have my hot water bottle betray me, and spit the hot water all over my leg while trying to ease the cramps. So 2nd degree burns to my right upper thigh. Ugly, ugly and very painful.

The only bright point is that the cover I made did soak up a lot of the water that leaked, so as bad as it is, it could have been much worse. But it's hard to keep optimistic at the moment.

You poor thing, what an awful experience! Take care of those burns and get better fast.

Also, kudos to you for finding a bright point in all of that. yellowrose

I'm so sorry you were burned...but I didn't think you were supposed to use THAT hot of water in a hot water bottle.

Be well and take care!!

I'd say birth control did miracles for my cramps, but would probably not help if you were trying to get pregnant.

I hope you feel better.

If it is the worse cramps you have had in years, I don't think you need to think about something as drastic as the pill. I had extremely bad cramping up until after I had my second child, and I did try the pill which did nothing to help the cramping.

I used an electic heating pad instead of a water water bottle, as it is easier to control the temperature and it stays warm.

As another side note, it took me two years to get pregnant with my first child and the next pregnancy I conceived the first month. Can't figure it out, by half my pregnacies I conceived within the first three months and the others took me between a year and two.

Thanks all! It's healing, just slowly.

As fo the cramps, I think it was just because I was late, but I also have endometriosis, so it could be the start of another flare up. I sure hope not though. As for the PG comment, I was hoping, since I was late. Since I came off the medications I was on for endo, this is the first time I'd been late at all. But between my age (33) and the endo, we're not really sure how easily it wil happen. The Dr told us when I first had it that we won't know if it will be a problem until we ctively start trying. So if it happened a bit earlier than we ideally want (in about a year to year and a half from now) then that would be just fine by me.

I don't know if I would call the pill drastic, a lot of girls I know take it for period problems ranging from irregularity to cramps. It just kind of helps stabilize things, and then hopefully get them into the right pattern.

I took it for about a year due to heavy bleeding and cramping and then went off it and am okay now. :-)

Sorry Rose, I did not mean to imply that taking the pill for therapeutic reasons was drastic in gerneral. What I meant was I didn't think it was neccessary for blushingbride to take the step of going on the pill while she was trying to conceive to stop her cramping.

I also have used several brands of the pill for both heavy bleeding and cramping from endometriosis, but it was on no help for me and the side effects were uncomfortable.

Thank you Dr. Buenaventura. Unfortunately, the down side of birth control is that when you are trying to conceive, it is not so wonderful.

I had trouble conceiving with endometriosis until I gave up and then woke up throwing up one morning.

The cramping can be very painful. I remember that. I finally had to have surgery cos it got so bad I was anemic.

Blushingbride...I'm glad you are feeling better. I hope it hasn't put too much of a damper on your holidays.

Thanks so much for all the words of support and encouragement. I've already had surgery once, and like Fanny the birth control pill doesn't really help me for the endo. And so we're currently "trying by not really trying" at this point, and will step up the planned trying later.

SInce I am way to prone to stressing out, we are hoping for it to just work without having to think about it, like accidentally on purpose.

I was on the pill for several years due to uterine problems...the relief from the pain was wonderful. But the doctors believe that the birth control pills were what caused the blood clots in my lungs this summer, so I highly recommend caution if clots are in your family history, or if your closer to pre-menopausal age. :-)
