Oh BOO HOO I won't be able to smell the dog's farts. I am hungry but can't taste anything. I am living in PJ's and fuzzy cat slippers. My day has been lay in bed, take my tempature-99.8 chew on Advil, blow my nose, suck on cough drops, BORED, get up read stuff on computer, ACHOOOOO ACHOOO, blow my nose, Cough, suck on cough drops, YUCK!, cough drops are disgusting with coffee, Take my temp 97.1, better for now.Next I watch soap operas and think about the furniture I have to move for the Xmas Tree. Cough, ACHOOO ACHOOOO, blow my nose, realize that I wanted to paint before Xmas and I mean the living room and dining room, blow my nose, cough cough. Unload the dishwasher wishing that I was Cinderella and I had those magical mice to get this stuff done for me. Blow my nose take my temp, cough cough, have to retake it because it almost shot across the room as I coughed. Make dinner, don't want to eat any of it. cough cough, suck on cough drop, blow my nose. I am becoming stir crazy need to do something anything. Read more on the computer, ACHOOOO, AH NO! SHIT! I got snot spots on my computer screen!!!! Clean the screen, blow my nose, take my temp, cough, make more coffee. I am waiting for Jay to come home, I get whiney when I am sick and because he told me to rest- hold on I have to blow my nose, ok back, I haven't kept busy and this day goes by soooooooooo ssssssssslllllllllloooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So here i sit bored out of my mind trying to be good and get rest so I can get everything done before Xmas. So if you guys could write to me so I don't go and start the furniture swap and the WWF match with the decorations. And worse of all no spanking til I get better. Oh wait I forgot we still have Xmas shopping left to do. Which can only be done on Sundays the way the schedual is and wrapping and cookies to bake because one little one is allergic to nuts so I bake everything to be safe. Oh I so don't need this right now!!! Well thanks for listening me bitch and vent as I sit here bored. Alright I am going to go take my temp and blow my nose, and probably suck on a cough drop. Thanks again!!!!

Chinnook, sweetie, I am still recovering from the same thing so I can sympathize with you wholeheartedly!

Only I got a chest infection and sinus infection to go along with it.

You get some Vicks and icky as it sounds...stuff it up your nose! You would be surprised at just how much that helps. And chicken noodle soup. You can't taste but it does help...listen to your Auntie Shylah!

I laughed at the snot spots on the puter...I did that as well...along with coughing up a lung and it landing SPLAT on the keyboard. Actually, it was that awful green slimy stuff and it was EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I laid in bed for days with a remote to my lil tv and lots of movies (Toy Story 2...Galaxy Quest...Titanic...Evita...Shrek and Shrek2 to name a few) and when I did come back downstairs, what did I find? EVERY DAMN DISH IN THE HOUSE WAS DIRTY AND SITTING ON THE COUNTERS! And I have a dishwasher! And there is only 2 of us!

He's in the doghouse. It took me over an hour to put the kitchen right. My head pounding. Nose running. Coughing up the other lung. Where is he you ask??

Outside in his workshop. Staying out of my way...or so he claimed.

Men...can't shoot em...can't boil em alive.

Shylah,

I so know how you feel. Mine man is domesticated though if he didn't have to work 14 hours he would of done the housework for me. He went out last night to go get me some cough medicine and some nose spray with menthol. It works!!!! But why is it only one nostril get plugged? Is it some kind of cruel joke. And when you do get the side that is plugged clear, the other side plugs up and says NEEEER NEREERR!!!! I go stir crazy in bed. Although I am planning on watching my Garth Brooks DVD set, 7hrs of a mighty fine man in tight jeans. LOL! Hey maybe I found my cure, just the thought of him makes me smile.

I already have plans for when I get better of bleaching and disinfecting every inch of the house. I swear the kids brought this home to me, Jeeezzzz thanks for the present.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Buenavetura and Shylah, I am going to go pass out either from the cold or the handsome man I am about to put in the DVD player.

I am sure I will be back later reading and trying to turn my head when the sneezes sneak up on me.

Hopefully both of you get better soon!

And as for why only one side of your nose gets plugged up... gravity. Most of us have a slight tilt in the way we hold our heads most of the time, and even more so when lying down. So all the mucus flows to the lowest point and that side plugs up. When you clear it, you have either started holding your head the other way to compensate, or you have rolled over, and then gravity leads to the other side getting plugged up.

But while I can explain it, that doesn't mean I can make it stop either. What I tend to do is prop myself semi-sitting with pillows against the headboard or on the couch and sleep that way. Sometimes it helps and sometimes not - depends on how bad the congestion is. But usually that with a decongestant will let me get some better rest.

Good luck and enjoy Garth!

Blushingbride, you are absolutely correct. I don't deal with antihistimines as I have never had one that works for me. I find nasal drops/spray to work the best and they don't make you zone out. The spray or drop temporarily decrease the swelling of the nasal membranes immediately. Oh, the box cautions about over use, but.....

All antihistimines ever did for me was make me sleepy.

I'm much better. I'll live but it was touch n go for awhile.

I spent all day at the sewing machine today. Then set the pork chops on fire for dinner. Once the smoke cleared, dinner was just fine. Quite tasty.

I watched Garth with my box of tissies handy-yep you guessed it blowing my nose. Now Jay has it, I told him to stay away and not kiss me. Who said men ever listen. I hope we are both better by the weekend we still have to do Xmas shopping and he cranky about it when is feeling fine, I can only imagine what he will be like if he is sick. I am drinking so much I think I am going to float away. Those new Shower Soothers work real well. I so hope I feel up to having my fight with the furniture tomarrow. Hell I didn't cook tonight guess they had to fend for themselves. I didn't hear any yelling and screaming guess no one had a limb chewed off. Oh well they will be just fine while I am layed up in bed. Thanks for all your concern and laughs. I really needed it.

Oh babe, I wish there was something I could do. Felling sick is the worst.

I'd make you some homemade chicken soup if you were here; my mom's recipe and it's the balls, LOL.

Feel better... or at least try!

xoxo,
Kate

Thank you so much Katie!!

Well guys I was up and out of bed carrying around my box of tissues room to room. I had to do something or i was going to go stir crazy. I wrapped the presents for the daughter B-day Saturday. And I did some housework. All the huffin' and puffin' got me coughing and Shylah I know what you mean. I coughed up a rainbow of colors, but now my chest does feel a little clearer now. It was so nice in NY it was 66 degrees so I opened the windows and got some fresh air in here and now the horrible weather man says it is going to get colder. The only thing I like about it is how pretty the snow looks right after a storm. It is on every branch of the trees. I really am trying to fell better. I hate this! Is it me or does it sneak up on you right as you have too much to do, but you can't catch a cold if need to. Like when there is a boring meeting at work.

Jay is not as bad as me he is only stuffed up. And here is another question why do I crave milk when I am sick? I can't have it unless i want to cough up one of my lungs in the tissue box. And because I can't have milk I am trying to stay away from sweets because I crave it even more. But then dumbass me goes and starts making a list of what I need to bake cookies and I do this by going through my desert cookbook. OH I WANT CHOCOLATE!

Ok I am going to bed with my tissue box and ginger ale. Hey atleast I can talk to all of you without infecting you with this LOL!

Chinnook, milk is mucous creator but it is also a comfort drink. In fact all dairy foods are considered comfort foods.
Sweets on the other hand should be the base of the food pyramid, but that of course is only my truthful opinion.

All I have to say is....

BRING ON THE COMFORT FOOD!!! HELL YEAH!!!

NO I do NOT do healthy when it get to the point of needing chocolate. I NEED it. Someone else can do the carrot sticks. I'm at a stage in my life that if I want something...I will have it!

When I was at my worst...when I didn't want anything but ginger ale, I STILL wanted chocolate.

It ranks at the top of the food pyramid for me...well...maybe after a nicely rare roasted leg of lamb with mint sauce.

Oh..excuse the drool.

Sorry.
