Just FYI for anyone who's interested...
If you drop a Mentos into a 2-Liter of Diet Coke, you get a
geyser...about 10ft high :-).
If you rig the Mentos inside th bottle, not touching the liquid and
then screw the cap on, shake the bottle, and toss it in the air...
When it hits ground, you get a rather impressive shower and the bottle
with rocket launch itself into the woods.
Just thought that this very important piece of information should be
passed on *wicked grin*

LOL I read all this last week in either the national enquirer OR theGlobe .. where they explained Mentos worked best becouse it was pourus and Diet coke due to the the gases in it ..it was stronger then other Diet drinks.
She may of got it from the network show too??? I missed that one
it has to be a FULL pack of mento's and a two liter jug of pop ..in order to really make er blow ..(11 mentos)
ok now I am done my nonesence info LOL ..back to ebay

If you surf over to www.youtube.com and search for diet coke metos, you'll get a lot of the videos of this that have been floating around the web. Some geniuses reenacted the big fountain in vegas with a bunch of two liters and some mentos....

My friend's dad (who is a physicist) told us about it. YES we tried it, on Fourth of July, it seemed fitting! And NO it doesn't have to be a whole pack of Mentos. Four is supposedly the optimum number. One even works for the geyser type effect.
Just a fun idea from your friendly neighboorhood butterfly!

LOL I got to read those too you know ..I read over 6 Books, and ten magazines, and 4 smut papers every week too ..plus newspapers, movies with subtitles, internet info, and all the material I can get my hands on ... I am an INFO JUNKIE and am dang proud of it too.
the trick is not to believe everything you read.
BUT .. this has to be like the Mars bars and Pepsi from 1970 .. anyone ever do that ??? I hear it does that too. (T'was before my time that it was being done though, and never liked either so I never bought them to try)

I have a few ideas for the two of you that might help get you off the hook with Kevin....
1) empty a pixie stick into a blowing fan
2) flip marshmallows off a spoon at a (running on high speed) ceiling fan (and if you wet them first, they'll stick where they land)
3) Or you could just send him a nice apology card filled with confetti

What I want to know is...did you get these ideas from your kids or did you come up with all on your own Fortysomething??
This is what my husband would call bratting.....he wouldn't spank for it...he would just walk away and wonder why I was acting like a kid.
I think I might still try the mentos thing...that is after all an experiment. |

Actually the marshmallow idea comes from a good friend who is raising 4 boys. She allows them to do that on rainy days but she has rules. No wetting them and each boy gets 4 marshmallows to be retrieved and re-used.
The confetti in the card thing...shoot.. we've all done that.
The pixie stick in the wind .... that one is my own creative thought and I've never done it or seen it done. I just came up with it today. 
So maybe Hunny could try that one... as an experiment, of course.

I tried the mentos thing with my students, its a great science experiment and they loved it!!!!

"M-80s were invented by the military long ago to simulate grenade explosions during training missions. Soon they became extremely popular with the public, and were sold as large firecrackers. But the Child Protection Act of 1966 made M-80s and cherry bombs illegal to manufacture in the United States (companies were given until 1976 to sell off the rest of their M-80s). Why? Because they are very dangerous. I rather thought m-80s in the portapottey was mindless... following the theme of things that explode when you add this to that! Sorry if I hijacked a thread or offended anyone's delicate sensibilities. Other things you never want to mix together include anything with bleach and anything with ammonia. It makes very noxious fumes.

Well no pixies sticks but i did empty a jar of sugar slowly over our high speed fan. I didn't help that him and his Dom friend where standing right in the line of fire! That is something i will never do again! He did make me clean most of it up and to anyone who trys this i suggest NOT using your tounge to clean it because you may just end up with a clothes pin on your tounge!
As to the marshmallow...well after tommorrow i'll tell you if it worked of not.
I gave him something better than a card with confetti! I allowed him to stay inside the house instead of locking him out again and telling him to go sleep in the dog house!
I still do wonder why i never sit!
Doms are too cranky if you ask me and they need to stop putting implements all over the house so they are always in reach!
No worries Butterfly! Atleast i had fun while getting in trouble even if he did make me explain what happened to the cleaning ladies. *blushes* You should have mentioned it was messy though!
