Any suggestions on how to heal and care for a "skinned" place on your bottom?

I've never had a skinned bottom but I've had lots of skinned other places. I'd suggest using an antibiotic cream and putting on a light bandage.

Treat it carefully, you don't want it to scar!

Hope this helps.

Opal:

I doubled checked in my Rx for herbal healing book.....andiroba oil is an option. You can get it (oil form only) at most health food stores but call ahead because I haven't bought it at either GNC or Whole Foods myself. There is a store in my area owned by an alternative MD so I mainly go there. Nunnie always used it on skinned knees, arms etc & it always really worked well on me.

Place it on the skin damaged area liberally. Cover during the day to protect clothing. But at night apply liberally & leave uncovered. Obviously sleep on your stomach but letting the "air help" heal it is something Nunnie always told me.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Brightest Blessings,BigGirl

Keep us posted on how you are feeling & what worked for you. We can all learn from what worked for you.

Would you mind telling me/us what implement caused the "skinned" area? No offense intended at all...I just want to avoid it because of G's feelings about bruising/markings.

Hope you are better soon,BigGirl

if you are in the u.s. there is an antiseptic ointment called bag-balm.... it was made for udders but it is the best i have seen for any scrape or cut... feed stores sell it and the local wal-mart does too.. it's in a green can with clover and a cows head on it... {pictures]

Most pharmacies also have Bag Balm in their moisturizer section. I have also seen it a some Ace Hardware stores. It's great stuff, but on the greasy side.
