Silly Recent US Local Government Proposals

Arkansas assemblyman Jim Lendall wanted to use $3,000 of state money to play other states' lotteries (There isn't one in Arkansas.) and, with a little luck, erase the budget shortfall.

Maryland's house drew up a bill to make walking the official state exercise.

The city council of Bend, Oregon, wanted to ban smelly people from local buses.

The mayor of Mount Sterling, Iowa, tried to ban lying. Honest!

The Pennsylvania house and senate were locked in a fierce debate - over which should be the official state cookie: Sugar or chocolate chip.

Its amazing what they can come up with to waste taxpayers money.
I heard of state bird, flag, and things like that but never a state cookie.

Tammynx,
Alabama doesn't have a lottery either. Everyone drives from here to the ajoining states to buy lottery tickets and gamble.

the Department of Health in the USA once held a study as to why toddlers fell off their tricycles.

The study cost the taxpayers 3.5 million dollars.

They also held a study costing in the neighborhood of 5 million dollars as to the effect of fly paper vs. door and window screens.

Amazing huh?

And they worry that this generation when they retire will have no Social Security money.
Take my heart and soul. But please don't step on it, it breaks easily.
