When I was young I was a different person than I’m now To remain so bold and carefree would be my solemn vow I thought the world a marvelous place and held it in my hand I wouldn’t back down from a thing and always took a stand The men were all attracted to a spirit brave and wild They wanted to hold the woman I was but ignored the fragile child One day there came along some men who tore my world apart I managed to survive somehow and make another start I’ve been married and divorced, it turned out to be a big mistake I knew better than to live with one who only wanted to take And then someone came along who set my heart on fire He used me and abused me until he began to tire He played such mind games with my head and broke my spirit too And when he finally finished with me my heart was black and blue I stayed away from men for many years and tried to heal And vowed to never again allow a man my heart to steal I’d go my life alone because I thought that it was best I may have missed companionship but at least my heart could rest And then one day one came along who made it skip a beat He brought a blush to my face and tingling to my seat He cant be real I told myself it’s too good to be true He frightened me with all the feelings brought out in me anew So many times I tried to run or just push him away I couldn’t understand each time why he’d want to stay How could I find love at my age I thought it was too late How could he be the one my heart was calling it’s soulmate He asked me just to lean on him and trust him for a while And once again my heart began to love and me to smile He’s healed so many hurts in me and set my spirit free And reassures me whether it’s with hugs or cross his knee He taught me how to play again for I’d forgotten fun The laughter bubbling up inside was brighter than the sun He’s where I want to be in every moment of the day His arms the safest harbor and from where I’ll never stray I know to take him at his word and watch that bottom line For if I stray too far from it he’ll paddle my behind My life has changed dramatically in very many ways And I look forward eagerly to the passing of the days When one day I’ll be close enough to hold him day or night And know that as I hoped it would my world has turned out right wolfie loves Steve more than anything else in the whole world...even more than chocolate and lobster!
